In Fairmount Park, the largest city park in the United States, are the Philadelphia Museum of Art, zoological gardens, and many historic monuments and shrines. Among these are the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; the Academy of Natural Sciences; the American Philosophical Society; and the Science Museum of the Franklin Institute.

One of the great art institutions, the Philadelphia Museum of Art boasts a variety of majestic spaces for memorable events. The museum houses over 30,000 works of art.

The Pennsylvania academy of fine arts, the oldest museum in the country, offers horticulture courses to the public; the Delaware art museum includes works of Winslow Homer; and showcased are the Brandywine school of painters including three generations of Wyeths.

The Academy of Natural Sciences showcases the Academy’s remarkable collections. The fully constructed Giganotosaurus, one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs, towers over Dinosaur Hall, also home to fossils from the Hadrosaurus foulkii, discovered in New Jersey in 1856. Multitudes of butterflies from Kenya, Costa Rica and Malaysia flit around in a simulated tropical rain forest.
